Welcome to Year 5
Here you will find lots of important information about what's going on in year 5. We will also be showing some of our fantastic work as well as photos and school trips.
Autumn term topic
Our topic this term is 'Flight and Space'. We will be researching the Wright brothers and famous astronauts (Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin). We will visit The Wetlands Centre in Llanelli and Techniquest.
The children will participate in a space workshop - Universe in the classroom, run by young astronomers and physicists.
We will be writing a recount, a report on a flying insect, instruction writing through our Design and Technology project - design and create a space rocket and we will be creating stories using 'Pie Corbett' methods.
Children must bring their reading files to school daily. Please listen and question your children on the story. Guided reading will take place every Friday morning across the school.
Our Science topic
We will be learning about different types of forces and conducting a number of investigations on this topic.
This term we will be developing our Welsh oracy skills and producing an 'All about me - Dyma fi' recording using our ipads.

Mrs Evan's class - Thursday afternoon. Please remember your PE kit.
Homework books are provided. Homework will be completed on the weekend and returned to school on Monday morning. There will be a selection of activities that the children can choose each week. House points will be rewarded for completion of homework each week.
