The successful candidates for the Rights Respecting School Council have been revealed! All winners have been informed today and given a certificate to celebrate. The first meeting will be on Friday. Our first job is to lead Operation Christmas Child, which we have been taking part in for the last few years. Mrs Chaplin will be in to talk to you about the Christmas shoeboxes soon and we will start collecting them after the half-term holiday.
Thank you ALL for taking part in the elections this year and 'well done' to the new RRS Councillors!
Hello children, parents and supporters of Townhill School!
It’s that time of year again! The Rights Respecting School Council Elections 2018 are coming up...I’m sure your teachers have talked to you about it already and you are thinking about which classmate would be the best person to sit on the council. Keep talking to your friends about what YOU would do if you were elected. How would you change the school for the better? What ideas do you have? Could you report back to your class after a meeting and gather responses? If the answer is yes then you could become a Rights Councillor!
I look forward to seeing you all during the elections!! 😊
Townhill Community School has been given the Rights Respecting Schools Level 1 Award. We are currently working towards achieving Level 2! Here at Townhill, we think that it's very important that children know their rights and also their responsibilities.
We use the UNICEF Charter of Children's Rights to make sure that all children know their rights. We have a Class Charter in every classroom and also a Lunchtime and Playground Charter.
We have a mascot we take home - Bubsy the Rights Respecting bee - who helps to share the message of rights respecting in our homes, with our families and in our community.
The Rights Respecting School Council help to spread the message too - going to meetings and then reporting back to our classrooms! We LOVE being a Rights Respecting School!
***NEWS JUST IN***
The Rights Council are helping the children of Townhill take part in Operation Christmas Child!
This is our third year of collecting shoe-boxes and filling them full of small gifts for children affected by war, famine, poverty and disease.
You can decide if your box is for a boy or a girl and how old they are. You can fill it with things like:
*a bar of soap
*a hat, scarf and gloves
*a small cuddly toy
*a colouring book and crayons/pencils
*hair clips or a hairband
*a small toy car or action figure/a small doll
OR...you could bring in one small thing to make a big class box!
Your lovely gifts will make a child somewhere in the world feel special...please help us spread a smile at Christmas time!! THANK YOU!!!
