Siarter Iaith Cymraeg

Croeso!

Over the past few years, we have worked hard to make sure the Welsh language is part of everyday teaching and learning and is spoken daily across the school.

OBJECTIVE

The aim of the Language Charter is to provide a clear structure to help children use more Welsh throughout the school. It supports schools in building a strong Welsh atmosphere and offers enjoyable activities that encourage children to learn and use Welsh.

Everyone in the school community is involved in the Language Charter, including pupils, parents, school governors and the wider community. The Criw Cymraeg play an important role in leading and promoting the Language Charter within the school.

BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD AWARDS

The Language Charter rewards schools for their hard work in promoting the Welsh language. Schools work towards clear and achievable targets, which can be included in the school’s Welsh Development Plan.

The Charter focuses on good practice, much of which we already do. By meeting the first set of targets in our first year, we hope to achieve the Bronze Award this year.

Our fantastic Criw Cymraeg will continue to be busy by leading assemblies, running competitions, playing Welsh games on the playground and linking with other schools, including Welsh‑medium schools.

We look forward to sharing our progress with you.
