TCS Governors
Here at TCS, we have a team of supportive governors, helping us to put children first. Please read below a message from our Chair of Governors:
Welcome to our school website! As Chair of Governors, I am privileged to serve a community that I am immensely proud of. Our school is a happy, united place where everyone works together with a shared purpose: to put our children first.
The Governing Body comprises of representatives of staff, the Local Authority, the community and very importantly, parents. Each governor brings their individual expertise and experience to termly governor meetings and / or to other committees such as finance, health and safety, curriculum, discipline etc. Governors are also expected to support children and staff with the numerous school concerts, special activities and celebrations.
The Governing Body, guided by the headteacher, is ultimately responsible for every aspect of Townhill Community School. All governors are expected to be “critical friends” in their role of supporting, overseeing and challenging. This includes staff, appointments and well-being, developing and reviewing objectives and plans, and, of course, most importantly, of all our children. At TCS, our mantra is “Putting Children First." It is this aim and ethos which governs everything we do. In respect of children in particular, it is this which is foremost in our minds when considering both child safety, protection and overall well-being and academic progress. Our belief is that every child, irrespective of background, culture, age, gender, ability and experiences, deserves the very best overall educational experience that we can offer.
As a Governing Body, we take great pride in our amazing school of individual children and enthusiastic and dedicated staff.
With warmest wishes,
Jan Chaplin (Mrs)
Chair of Governors
