There are 2 teachers working in Reception this year - Miss Guy and Miss Rees. If you have any questions or queries, you can contact the staff via their email addresses:

Timings

The school day starts at 8.50am (pupils can attend Breakfast club from 8am). Children will come in via the Nursery entrance. The school day finishes at 3.20pm and pupils leave the school from the same entrance.

Uniform

School uniform consists of a red jumper, red or white polo shirt and black bottoms. No jewellery should be worn, except small studs. Sensible shoes are needed for the school day - no crocs or heels.

Homework

A homework menu is given out at the start of each term, with suggested tasks for pupils to complete with parents. Pupils can bring completed homework in tasks into school, or parents can send images to teachers via Class Dojo. Pupils are rewarded for completing homework tasks with Dojo points. Although homework is not compulsory, this is a great opportunity to prepare pupils for secondary school.

Reading

In Reception, during the first term, we place a huge emphasis on learning initial letter sounds. Once children recognise all initial sounds, we then move onto to sounding out and blending CVC words regularly. When we feel that your child is ready, homework tasks to support early reading development will be sent home.

PE

PE for both Reception classes takes place on a Friday afternoon. Pupils should ensure they wear clothing to school that is suitable for PE - comfortable clothing and trainers. Pupils should bring in a water bottle.
