Thrive

Thrive at Townhill Community School continues to play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of all pupils across the school. The school has achieved its status as a Thrive Ambassador School of Excellence in Environment.

The Thrive team consists of:

Thrive Lead Practitioner – Mrs Totty

KS2 Thrive Practitioner – Mrs Bousher

KS1 Thrive Support TA – Mrs Kenealey

Thrive Music Therapist – Boyd Erlam

The Thrive Approach is an integral part of who we are at Townhill Community School and underpins every aspect of school life. It is embedded in daily practice, with both staff and pupils demonstrating mutual respect and consistently applying Thrive principles throughout the school day. We continue to support all Thrive pupils on a daily basis, ensuring that emotional wellbeing remains a priority and that children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Our successful teacher drop-in sessions during the Autumn term helped to identify additional children who may benefit from targeted Thrive group work or one-to-one intervention. Thrive parent drop-in sessions have also been well attended, providing a valuable opportunity for parents to discuss any concerns or worries about their child with our trained Thrive practitioners, continuing to strengthen our home/school links.

Thrive music sessions remain a real strength, with our Music Therapist, Boyd. He continues to work closely with our pupils to create music that will be shared with parents in an upcoming showcase.

Alongside this, we are actively working towards our next Thrive Ambassador Award, focusing on excellence in reparative practice.

Whole class Thrive planning is now embedded across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage and is being incorporated into daily classroom practice, including wellbeing lessons, mindfulness activities, and support for key transitions throughout the day.

Our Cwtch Cafe provision continues to support pupils during playtimes and lunchtimes, particularly those who find unstructured times more challenging.

The Thrive team are always on hand to listen and support pupils, staff and parents. If any parents have any concerns about their child's emotional wellbeing or mental health, they are asked to signpost this to individual class teachers, who will then bring this to the attention of the Thrive Practitioners.
