Lead creative schools project 2016 and 2017
In 2016 the school participated in a project with the arts council for Wales, to promote creativity in the literacy work of young people. Twenty year two pupils participated in the project when a local artist David Marchant visited the school to work with the pupils. The pupils were able to use their I.C.T skills combined with their literacy skills, to produce a fantastic story called 'The Holiday'. All the people involved with the project were extremely proud of the results - definitely lots of creativity happening here in Townhill!
In 2017 the project continued and both year three classes worked with a very talented artist and author called Iona Towler-Evans to further enhance their creativity. They also worked with an amazing illustrator called Angie Stevens, who taught everyone some great drawing techniques.....even the teachers! Check out her web-site at: www.doodlemum.com
The project involved creating a magical island full of mysterious creatures and dinosaurs. The children had opportunities to write, draw, paint, make and act.
Below is a slide show of the children in action and some of their fantastic work!
